Surprisingly, the most unknown and unfamiliar person in this world, for anyone, is – ONESELF. We remain stranger to ourselves, in many aspects, for the most period of our lives, and probably the whole life. We don’t discover ourselves in its true potential. A few in this world have lived who could successfully identified themselves.

Unfortunately we do not know our weakness, flaw, imperfection, shortfall and inefficiency. Similarly we rarely realize our strength, capacity, power, supremacy, might, valor and dynamism.

Leonardo da Vinci, an Italian painter wrote, “One can have no smaller or greater mastery than mastery of oneself.”

And he, in fact, gained mastery of oneself; accomplished heights of successes in many fields. He is considered one of the greatest painters of all time, and perhaps most diverse person ever to have lived in this world. Leonardo da Vinci, was also a polymath, painter, sculptor, architect, musician, scientist, mathematician, engineer, inventor, anatomist, geologist, cartographer, botanist and writer.

His greatest achievement remains in painting ‘Mona Lisa’, the most famous and most parodied portrait; another remarkable work by Leonardo da Vinci is ‘The Last Supper’, the most reproduced religious painting of all time.

Those who could know themselves attained unprecedented victory. Others remain ordinary humans with blood and flesh. Anyone who is born, does live and die, but only a few live in a manner that they never die, become immortal, not by life but by triumphs, feats and acts.

Education and training is given to learn skill, gain excellence, in a particular field. One can achieve mastery in different fields, but the attitude to achieve superiority in life is the real mastery over oneself. This mastery is not comparable to any other feat, in any field; it’s the greatest mastery, which invariably leads to the utmost attainments in life.

So, let us try to gain mastery of oneself…
